I am very pleased that Chris Butterfield has agreed to look after my website in the way that Designworks have been doing for the past nine years. In the second paragraph of the introduction to the website, I mentioned a series of scenes from Russian and East European musicals that were filmed in the 1950s and broadcast in 1988. I wrote that the scenes were not only a source of pleasure but also of historical interest because they conveyed a feeling of optimism that conflicted with the popular image of that part of the world at that time. The video can be seen here.

For two years, readers of my website could watch these scenes, then for four years, they were lost, although people could still read about them in the introduction. Now Chris has succeeded in recovering the scenes, which can be found on my website in the section marked ‘videos’
