Saturday, 1st November, 2025 – Received an email from Chris Butterfield saying that he thinks that the number of visits to my website is only about 1% of the published figure.

Sunday, 2nd November – Consulted my website at 6.15 a.m. and found that it had been visited 144 times since midnight, although the average number of visits per day in October was only 248. This confirms Chris’s idea that most of the visits were made by machines, and it raises the questions of why the visits were made by machines and why such visits were included in the published figure when it is obvious that what I want to know is how many people have consulted my website.

Sunday, 9th November – Looked myself up on the internet and went to ‘Images’, where I found a photograph that I didn’t recognise, and this led me to an article by the person I recently met on Wansfell.

Saturday, 15th November – Finished watching a very good western called ‘The Big Trail’, which I have never seen before and which was made in 1930. There is something to be said for being too lazy to do anything except watch television.

Sunday, 16th November – Went through my collection of scenes from television on the hard disc drive and noticed a sequence that had been accidentally repeated. Then I found 81 sequences before it and 91 sequences after it that had also been accidentally repeated.

Consulted the Wainwright Facebook site and found a message from David Hatton saying nice things about the Scafell Pike panorama.

Went for a walk through the woodlands between Tullithwaite Hall and Barrowfield and saw some orange peel fungi.

Tuesday, 17th November – Finally succeeded in removing all the unwanted scenes from television that I recently discovered.

Wednesday, 19th November – Went for a walk with seventeen members of the Kendal Ramblers under a clear blue sky from Lane Ends to Backbarrow and Mearness Point. I found walking along the shore very difficult, but there were plenty of people to help me. Travelled in an electric car for the first time; I didn’t know that it was electric until we reached our destination.

Tuesday, 25th November – Went for a walk with the Kendal Ramblers in perfect weather from the Kendal Leisure Centre to Staveley and back by bus. We followed the Towpath Trail and the rivers Kent, Mint and Sprint. Took photographs of a spring near Must Hill and of a goat at Sprint Mill. I was able to keep up, but there wasn’t time to look at the scenery.

Thursday, 27th November – A man from British Telecom called to change my hub so that I can get the internet and emails again. I didn’t have to pay anything.

Friday, 28th November – Walked along Low Fellside to see if there were still rabbits in the adjoining field. I didn’t see any, but on the way back, I saw a grey squirrel in Garth Heads and a dipper in Blind Beck, neither of which I have seen for years.

Sunday, 30th November – Followed the River Mint upstream from Mint Bridge and had a look at the two old quarries near the Appleby road.
